Inritius Alliance 2 Wiki

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be,
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of Circumstance,
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeoning of Chance,
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears,
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years,
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
- William Ernest Henley, (1849–1903)1

What is LARP?

Live Action Role Play (LARP) is similar to tabletop roleplaying games, but with actions and combat acted out as opposed to rolling dice to determine outcomes. Characters have skills and hit points, weapons and spells to deal damage, and armour for defense. Different combinations of skills and abilities are used to during an adventure to complete a quest or attain some goal.

Everything happens in “real” time. If a player decides their character is going to attack an enemy, they grab their weapon and attack. In this way, LARP players can immerse themselves in a fantasy world and become a different character.

The IA2 System

There are several variations of LARP systems and the IA2 system is what some refer to as a “boffer-larp.” This refers to the fact that we use foam weapons to engage in combat. While this is a general description of the IA2 system, there is also room for players who prefer less combat or “tavern style” LARP and IA2 hosts a variety of events.

Note: IA2 events are strictly 18+ and the system is unable to make exceptions to this rule.

How to Start

The best way to participate is to come out to a game and experience it for yourself. In general, its recommended that you participate as crew for a few games to meet people, learn a bit about the system, and get used to the rules.

As a general rule, the system does not allow spectators, but welcomes any who are open to participation, even in a limited capacity.

Game Location

IA2 currently stages events at:

The Grene Wode
25133 0 Avenue
Langley, BC

IA2 runs several games across a weekend, each individual game costs $10 to play, but is free for crew.

Inritius Alliance LARP Society

The IA2 system is run by a non-profit society registered with the Province of British Columbia. The Society has a board of directors who work to manage the systems resources, obtain insurance, deal with the code of conduct, and other aspects of running the system as a whole.

System Manager

While the board of directors deals with the details of running the system as a whole, the game itself (rules, plots, game dates, etc.) are all run by the System Manager. The System Manager is the ultimate authority on all matters related to the game.

Assisting the System Manager is a series of committees who discuss issues and make recommendations. The two main committees are the Rules Committee and the Plot Committee who make recommendations on rules updates and fleshing out the IA2 world respectively.

Any active player in the IA2 system is welcome to participate on a committee and interested parties should contact the System Manager.

Code of Conduct

In order to maintain safety and ensure all players have fun during an event, the IA2 system asks that all players abide by a Code of Conduct:

  • Safety I will ensure that the safety of all persons is maintained at all times and without exception.
  • Respect I will treat all persons associated with the group with dignity and respect at all times and without exception.
  • Responsibility I will ensure that I care for my needs such that I am ready and able to play.
  • Structure I will abide by the authority of the system manager, storyteller, referees, online moderators, and the rules and policies as written.
  • Collaboration I will contribute to the work of the group.

By participating in an IA2 event, you agree to abide by this code of conduct. If a player feels that someone is not abiding by this code, please contact a Referee, the System Manager, or a society board member as appropriate.
