Familiars

While typically associated with spell casters, familiars are available for purchase by any player. A familiar must be represented by a physrep or be played by another player.

Note: Familiars only take damage from effects or weapons strikes that that target the familiar directly and are immune to mental and area effects.
Note: Familiars are unable to attack enemies directly.

Familiar Stats

A familiar's stats are determined primarily by those of their owner and increase or decrease in step with their owner's.

  • Familiars have a number of Global Hits equal to the LOC of their owner.
  • Familiars have CON equal to the LOC of their owner.
  • Familiars follow the same rules of life and death as characters.

If a familiar dies permanently, the owner takes 1 point of permanent CON damage.

Cost

Familiars are purchased with gold normally through the marketplace. Natural creatures cost 50 gp and magical creature cost 100 gp.

Abilities

Once purchased a familiar can be upgraded with a single benefit which can be further upgraded according to the tier of play of their owner. Adding or upgrading a familiar ability costs boons.

Abilities List

  • Halo Store: The familiar has the ability to store Halo and gift it to their owner. Low: 100; Mid: 200; High: 300; Epic: 400.
  • Mana Store: The familiar has the ability to store Mana and gift it to their owner. Low: 50; Mid: 100; High: 150; Epic: 200.
  • Acute Sense: The familiar provides a constant bonus to their owner's ranks of Heightened Senses. Low: +1; Mid: +2; High: +3; Epic: +4.
  • Iron Will: The familiar provides a constant bonus to their owner's ranks of Willpower (Defensive). Low: +1; Mid: +2; High: +3; Epic: +4.
  • Ritualistic: The familiar is able to act as an contributor to a ritual lead by their owner. Low: Rank 4; Mid: Rank 6; High: Rank 8; Epic: Rank 10.
  • Crafty: The familiar provides a constant bonus to their owners Craft (Specific) skills. Low: +1; Mid: +2; High: +3; Epic: +4.

Note: Additional familiar abilities are available with System Manager approval.
