Multipliers

A character's skills define what that character is able to achieve in game. Skills are divided into eight groups based on a multiplier associated with that skill:

  • Might for skills based on strength and physical power.
  • Agility for skills based on speed and physical dexterity.
  • Connection for skills based on mental strength and connection to the world.
  • Intellect for skills based on knowledge and intelligence.
  • Arcane for skills related to arcane magic.
  • Divine for skills related to divine magic.
  • Natural for skills related to natural magic.
  • Psionic for skills related to psionic magic.

Multipliers affect how much xp a given skill will cost. Skill cost is the base xp cost of a skill multiplied by the multiplier used to purchase that skill. The lower a multiplier, the less xp a skill will cost.

Determining Multipliers

Determining a character’s multipliers is done in steps as outlined below:

  1. A character’s multipliers all start at 3.
Might 3 Agility 3 Connection 3 Intellect 3 Arcane 3 Divine 3 Natural 3 Psionic 3
  1. Increase and decrease multipliers based on chosen race, e.g. Increase Might 1, Decrease Arcane 2
Might 4 Agility 3 Connection 3 Intellect 3 Arcane 1 Divine 3 Natural 3 Psionic 3
  1. Each character can make 3 additional reductions, e.g. decrease Intellect by 2, Agility by 1
Might 4 Agility 2 Connection 3 Intellect 1 Arcane 1 Divine 3 Natural 3 Psionic 3
  1. Each character can make 1 additional reduction by making 2 increases, e.g. increase Natural and Psionic by 1 each, decrease Connection by 1
Might 4 Agility 2 Connection 2 Intellect 1 Arcane 1 Divine 3 Natural 4 Psionic 4
  1. Arcane magic opposes Natural magic while Divine magic opposes Psionic magic. If a character reduces any of their magic multipliers to one, the opposing multiplier increases by 1, e.g. arcane multiplier is 1 so Natural increases by 1
Might 4 Agility 2 Connection 2 Intellect 1 Arcane 1 Divine 3 Natural 5 Psionic 4

Note: The increase from opposing magic only applies once. It is possible to have both opposing magic multipliers at 1.

Note: A multiplier can never be increased above 5 or reduced below 1.

Note: A character can only have 2 multipliers at 1.
