Argead Laws

These are the laws of the State and Protectorate of Arenevar

  • I. All resident Argeads of legal age (18), male and female, of all classes, and non-enemy religion, of the State and Protectorate of Arenevar are Citizens of the State.
    • i. Citizens have the obligation to comply with the laws of the State;
    • ii. Citizens are protected by the laws of the State;
    • iii. Citizens have the obligation to serve the State when called to service, either as Jury, Magistrate, Councilor, or Senator;
    • iv. Citizens have the obligation to vote when a vote it called by the State;
    • v. Citizens have the obligation to serve the regular or special legions when called by the State; and
    • vi. Citizens can hold Title to property, rank, and position in the State and hold Warrant of the State;
  • II. All non-Argeads residents of the State and Protectorate of Arenevar are Foreign Residents of the State.
    • i. Foreign Residents have the obligation to comply with the laws of the State;
    • ii. Foreign Residents are protected by the laws of the State;
    • iii. Foreign Residents are barred from service to the State;
    • iv. Foreign Residents are barred from voting;
    • v. Foreign Residents are barred from service to the regular legions;
    • vi. Foreign Residents have the obligation to serve the Foreign Legion when called by the State;
    • vii. Foreign Residents are barred from holding title to property, rank, or position in the State; and
    • viii. Foreign Residents can hold Warrant of the State.
  • III. All non-Argeads visitors from allied or neutral foreign powers and all non-resident Argeads when visiting the State of Arenevar, for business or pleasure, are Visitors of the State.
    • i. Visitors are obliged to comply with the laws of the State;
    • ii. Visitors are protected by the laws of the State; and
    • iii. Visitors have no other rights within the State.
  • IV. All Argeads and non-Argeads, foreign or domestic, who are agents of enemy foreign powers and all Citizens, Foreign Residents, and Visitors who fail to uphold their obligations under the laws of the State of Arenevar are considered Criminals.
    • i. Right to Trial:
      • a. Citizens have the right to trial by magistrate or jury;
      • b. Foreign Residents have the right to trial by magistrate or jury;
      • c. Visitors have the right to trial by magistrate; and
      • d. Agents of enemy foreign powers have no right to trial.
    • ii. Right to Life:
      • a. Criminals not yet tried have the right to life;
      • b. Criminals tried and sentenced to a punishment of imprisonment or less, have the right to life; and
      • c. Criminals sentenced to death have no protection.
    • iii. Punishment:
      • a. Criminals found guilty of crime against the Laws of the State, can be sentenced to death, imprisonment, seizure of assets, forced service, deportation, or exile;
      • b. Criminals found guilty of crime against the Laws of the Community, can be sentenced to imprisonment, seizure of assets, deportation, or exile; and
      • c. Criminals found guilty of crime against the Laws of the Person, can be sentenced to imprisonment, seizure of assets, forced restitution, deportation, or exile.
      • d. Once convicted of a crime, a Criminal is considered a Criminal until punishment has been completed.
  • V. Laws of the State govern the laws of the nation within the declared boundaries of the State and Protectorate of Arenevar.
    • i. Worship of the enemy gods Tridian and Oblivion is a crime against the State;
    • ii. Action against the interests, security, or integrity of the State is a crime against the State;
    • iii. Desertion of military commission or conscription is a crime against the State;
    • iv. Failure to comply with order to serve as jury, magistrate, councilor, senator, or for the regular or special legions is a crime against the State;
    • v. Enslavement of any sentient being is a crime against the State;
    • vi. Any action of assistance to an enemy foreign power is a crime against the State; and
    • vii. Any other action, as decided by the senate or its representative, declared as a crime against the State, is a crime against the State.
  • VI. Laws of the Community govern the laws of the cities, towns, villages, organizations, businesses, churches, and guilds within the State and Protectorate of Arenevar.
    • i. Banditry or the taking of tolls without Warrant is a crime against the community;
      • a. Failure to pay tolls as required by Warrant is a crime against the community.
    • ii. Claiming of lands without Title is a crime against the Community;
      • a. Disturbance of or residence on lands held by Title without leave is trespass and a crime against the Community;
      • b. Passage through or presence on lands of the State or held by Title with good reason is not trespass; and
      • c. Denial of passage through lands of the State or held by Title without good reason is a crime against the Community.
    • iii. Entering the residence of another without notice or good reason is a crime against the Community;
    • iv. Theft or destruction of state, organization, guild, or church property is a crime against the Community;
    • v. Organization or assembly with the sole intent to commit crimes against the State, Community, or Person is a crime against the Community; and
    • vi. Disorderly conduct or conduct unbecoming rank or position, whether brawling, drunkenness, lewdness, or conduct counter the public good, is a crime against the Community.
  • VII. Laws of the Person govern the conduct of all Citizens, Foreign Residents, and Visitors towards one another in the State and Protectorate of Arenevar.
    • i. Violence of any kind against another without good cause of defense is a crime again the Person;
      • a. Violence for reason of self-defense, arrest, bounty, or prevention of crime is not a crime;
      • b. Violence with cause must be commensurate with the source of threat or it is a crime against the Person;
      • c. Violence by accident or misfortune is not a crime;
      • d. Violence against the helpless who retain the right to life is a crime against the Community; and
      • e. Violence by inaction is not a crime.
    • ii. Theft or destruction of property owned by a Citizen, Foreign Resident, or Visitor is a crime against the Person;
      • a. Failure to settle a debt rightfully owed is theft and a crime against the person;
      • b. Theft from a debtor to settle a debt legally owed and overdue is collection and not a crime; and
      • c. Recovery of goods stolen or owed, or as bounty is collection and not a crime.
    • iii. Slander without belief is a crime against the Person;
    • iv. False imprisonment is a crime against the Person;
      • a. Imprisonment for the purposed of arrest, or bounty is not a crime; and
      • b. Escape from lawful capture is a crime against the Person.
